The Alaska Airmen’s Association’s Raffle Planes
The Alaska Airmen’s Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to promote general aviation in Alaska.” As a 501 c (3) they depend on fundraising to support their programs and help cover their administrative staff costs. Programs include hosting of public meetings and forums, safety programs, membership services, events and communications, scholarship and youth outreach.
The culmination of every Great Alaska Aviation Gathering is the Association’s giveaway of a raffle plane. Each year the Association sends bids to aircraft builders to build a new refurbished plane. Above Alaska Aviation was selected to build the 2016 – 2020 raffle planes.
Since 1999, the Alaska Airmen have successfully raffled a FACTORY NEW aircraft. Past aircraft have been a Cessna 172, Aviat Husky, Top Cub Super cub, Maule M7, American Champion Scout and multiple Super Cubs refurbished by multiple Alaskan builders. The winning ticket is drawn on the second day of the Great Alaska Aviation Gathering traditionally held the first weekend of May. The drawing in 2020 will be on Sunday, May 3rd. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Alaska Airmen’s Association at 907-245-1251.
